October 2018 Wrap-Up | Productivity? Never Heard Of It

October 2018 Wrap-Up with art in background

So, October was… a month. Things happened during it. Those things do not include me blogging. *hides in shame*

But, as November begins and the realisation that I only have two months left to complete my goals sets in, I’m hoping I’ll get the productivity kick I desperately need.

Books Read

Ill Wind by Rachel Caine | ebook | READING

I started this in June and should reeaaally get around to finishing it at some point.

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before | audiobook | READING

I may have committed the cardinal sin of watching the movie first, but I am still enjoying this cute little book.

Jack of Hearts (And Other Parts) by L.C. Rosen | ARCREAD

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Click the link for my full review of this one!

the princess saves herself in this one by Amanda Lovelace | ebookREAD

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was a seriously emotional collection that I felt in my soul. I never read poems, but I got inspired to check this out and I’m so glad I did because it was powerfully written and I felt a real connection with it.

the witch doesn’t burn in this one by Amanda Lovelace | ebookREAD

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was some fiery feminist poetry and I loved it all. When I put this collection down I could feel an indignant fire in my chest, and wanted to go out into the street and rage against the injustice of the world. An evocative and emotional collection of words.

If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio | library | READING

I’ve been looking at this one for a while so I finally got it from the library with intentions of it being a Halloween read. That (clearly) didn’t pan out, but I still really want to read it.

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli | borrowed | READING

I was lent this by girlfriend and keep getting asked if I’ve got to “the cute part” yet. I haven’t, but I am enjoying it so far.

Books Acquired

The Rosie Project by Graeme Simson | bought | paperback

Skyward by Brandon Sanderson | ARC | kindle

My Sister, the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite | ARC | kindle

If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio | library | ebook

Listened To

The songs I’ve had on repeat this month:

No Right to Love You (Acoustic) – Rhys Lewis

Fools – Lauren Aquilina

I Know A Place – MUNA

Monsters in the Dark – Mykey

This Is Why I Need You – Jesse Ruben

Watched

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before | ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This film is so sweet and cutesy. I loved the romance and the cinematography, especially how beautifully colourful everything is.

The Good Place S1-3 | ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This show got recommended to me and I’m so glad I watched it. It’s smart, funny, and the first season managed to crush me with a plot twist. I’m totally recommending it to others now.

Ghostbusters | ⭐️⭐️

So I decided to watch this for Halloween, since it’s a classic and I’ve never seen it. And… ew. The sexist humour and seriously creepy behaviour (read: don’t kiss someone on the neck when they’re unconscious!!) totally put me off.

Warm Bodies | ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a rewatch for the third(?) time and this film is just as good. I love a good zombie story and Warm Bodies is what started that obsession. There’s a couple changes from the book that annoy me every time, but I still love this movie.

The Haunting of Hill House S1 | ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Super creepy, super intense, super addictive. I watched most of this in a day with the lights out. It wasn’t all good, hence the 3 stars, but when it was it really was – such a scary atmosphere. I was ready for it to end by the time it did, but it was better than I expected. Also, love Theo. She’s awesome.

Created

I failed Inktober within the first week. And then I failed even more by not getting back on the horse and carrying on. I’m really disappointed in myself for not even completing a week, especially after I managed all 31 days last year.

Next Month’s Goals

    • Post once a week
    • Finish If We Were Villains and Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda
    • Read Feed by Mira Grant
    • Make 10 drawings

So, that was my month. I’m really disappointed about Inktober and now five books behind on my Reading Challenge (eek!) but I’m determined to do better next month. Here’s to a productive November!
