The Sunshine Blogger Award | Talking Blogging, Fears, & Fictional Character’s Instagram Aesthetics!

Sunshine Blogger Award

Hello everyone! I’m here today with a super fun post and it’s all thanks to Sophie @ Me & Ink who so kindly nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger Award! While I’ve seen this tag around lots before I’ve never done it myself, so I’m really excited to give it a go.

The Rules:

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
  2. Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.
  3. Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
  4. List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post/or on your blog.

Sophie’s Questions:

Which hero/ ‘good’ character do you think would also make a great villain? (They can’t already be a bad person.)

The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson UK book cover

Hmm… I think I’ll have to go with Kelsier from The Final Empire. He’s so charismatic and good at getting people to follow him. Therefore I think he’d make a great leader for villainous purposes too – he could totally have a troupe of evil minions and use his Allomantic powers for bad!

Which fictional character would have the best Twitter account?

Janco Poison Study Fan Art
I had to draw my fave, Janco ❀

Janco from Poison Study. He’s always spouting funny rhymes and jabs at people, so I’d love to read his running commentary on the world. If he saw anyone making stupid comments he’d definitely take them down with sass and grace.

Which fictional character would have the best Instagram account? (Bonus: what would their aesthetic be?)

Definitely Noah from I’ll Give You the Sun! He’s an artist so I think he’d just post a bunch of beautiful paintings, sketches and photographs. Just for fun I went ahead and made my own version of what I think it would look like – his artwork mixed with pictures of the beach, the cove and his favourite forest.

What do you think of BookTube? (Any favourite type of videos?)

I must confess, I don’t really watch BookTube! But when I ocassionally do I quite like recommendation videos, or funny book tags/challenges.

If you could name a star constellation, what would it be?

Constellations Star Map

What a cool question! I’ve actually studied astronomy (yep, I’m a science nerd as well as a bookish one) and I adore looking up at the stars and finding constellations. Constellations obviously deserve magical, ethereal names, but I think I’ll have to be cheeky on this one and name mine AIDAN in honour of every Illuminae fan’s favourite psychopathic AI.

What are you afraid of?

Failure. I’m one of those people that would rather procrastinate a task and never do it at all than risk doing it and failing. This year I’m trying to push myself though, and accept that things don’t have to be perfect to be finished!

What is your favourite type of handwriting?

I love the really nice rounded, swirly hand lettering. I’ve always wanted to learn how to do it but I’ve already got a million and one things going on – maybe one day!

What is an area of blogging you would like to improve on?

Definitely how much/how consistently I post. As soon as I get busy, blogging seems to be the first thing I let slip. I’m really unprepared and I tend to write as I go – there’s no scheduling here! I don’t even have a plan! *distant screaming* So yes, I would defintiely like to get more organised.

If you had to change your blogging name, what would you change it to?

I really like my current name but if I had to change it I’d probably go with my old Tumblr name – Eating and Internetting. It might not make much sense for a book blog but it still sums up a pretty big chunk of my life – eating snacks while browsing the internet. πŸ˜‚

What is something from the past that you wished still happened nowadays? (i.e. balls, horse and carriages, hand written letters etc.)

I wish people were more focused on the idea of make do and mend. When you would stitch up holes in your clothes and fix things that got broken rather than just throwing them away and buying new. I wish the world now didn’t see everything as disposable.

What do you think to this song? (TW: depression)

It’s not my usual style of music, but I think the lyrics are really clever and I enjoyed the way the music video was shot – like an old home video! I liked how well it emulated the feeling of a relationship breaking down.

My Questions

  1. What fictional food would you love to try?
  2. What real life food would you serve to your favourite fictional character?
  3. Have you ever dog-eared, highlighted, or written in a book?
  4. What’s your favourite blog post you’ve ever written?
  5. Do you enjoy listening to audiobooks?
  6. What is your favourite book cover? (Or covers, if you can’t just pick one!)
  7. If you had the option, would you choose to stay in our world or go live in a fictional one?
  8. What do you use to write your blog posts? (e.g. notebook and pen, laptop, phone app…)
  9. Do you like movie/TV adaptations, or wish they would just leave the books alone?
  10. Did you enjoy reading as a child? What age did you really get into it?
  11. Which do you prefer – paperback, hardback, ebook, or audiobook?

  1. Ohh.. I would love to read The Mistborn series and you have just made me more eager to get to it!! I love your reasoning behind that question as well, it definitely sounds like he could make a good villain.
Ahh.. Noah’s Instagram sounds amazing (another book I need to read though) but the artistic side would be to die for!!
Stars are so magical and I LOVE that you named your constellations after a book character!!
Failure can be very nerve wracking and all consuming but I’m trying to let go off needing everything to be perfect or of being too scared to try new things because of failure. We can do this!!!

Eating and Internetting is an amazing name, haha!! I agree about people seeing less things as disposable, that would be a great change!!
I love the way the music video was shot too, so cool. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and for answering all the questions, I loved reading this!! ❀

    1. I’ve not finished the whole trilogy of Mistborn but the first book is one of my absolute favourites. I went into it expecting political fantasy, but it’s actually a magical heist plot!

Yes, I loved the constellation question! I was thinking of things I would want to be amongst the stars, so I had to go for something Sci-Fi!

Glad I’m not the only one! Yeah, we can totally do this!!

Thank you so much for asking the questions! They were so fun, I had a blast answering them ❀️

  2. Hi Abi!!
Thank you for this nomination! I look forward to doing this one soon πŸ™‚
I enjoyed reading your thoughtful answers to Sophie’s questions. I absolutely agree with the mentality of “make do and mend” that people in the good old days used to have. Now objects are often treated as disposable. When something breaks, we throw out the old and bring out the new. However often times it can be an easy fix, like sewing up a loose seam on a piece of clothing or bag. I also like to find new purposes for things that I don’t need anymore πŸ™‚
    Great post!!

    1. Hi Sophie!!
You’re welcome, I look forward to reading your answers 😊
Exactly, and I think it feels like an achievement when you manage to mend something that was broken and keep using it. Even donating things rather than throwing them away can feel really good πŸ™‚ Thank you!

  3. Ahh thanks so much for tagging me! ❀ LOVE all of your questions
I completely agree that Kelsier would make a great villain if he were so inclined. I definitely would not want to be on the opposite side from him! And I also really loved that kind of swirly handwriting! I think it would be really cool to learn πŸ™‚

    1. You’re welcome, I can’t wait to read your answers! ❀️

He really would, the more I thought about it the better the idea seemed. He’d be a really charismatic and powerful villain.

Yeah it would! I was going to try some of those handwriting practice sheets but my printer is out of black ink and I can’t be bothered ordering any πŸ˜‚

  4. Thanks for the nomination Abi! You’ve picked some fun looking questions. πŸ™‚
Noah would have an amazing instagram. The art would be fabulous. I’d definitely follow him.
Also, agreed about Kelsier. If he’d been a villain, there would have been no stopping him!

  5. Thank you so much for nominating me, Abi! I’m sorry I’m so late to seeing this, but I would love to participate, your questions are wonderful.☺️
I agree with you so much about the handwriting! I’ve tried to hand letter so many times, and I’m all right at it, but nothing that you would see on Pinterest. XD I do need to dedicate some time to that, if I ever get the chance, because I have always admired it as well.
